Hey, folks. Just trying something new. A lot of your favorite shows have wrapped up their seasons. Before we head into settling for our summer of whatever SyFy, HBO, BBCA, and others give us, consider this your thread to sound off on anything.

Got any insights on what happened on Lost? What do you hope for from Fringe next year? Any shows we neglect that you’re really enjoying? Chime in here. If there’s anything particularly clever, we may mention it on the podcast and would of course give you full credit for whatever you write.

First of all, I’m just curious if anyone had a favorite finale this season, or a least-favorite?
I think Supernatural and Fringe had just the right amounts of closure and new questions, personally. And after a better-than-usual season, Smallville’s and 24′s finales felt a bit flat to me.

I liked Sarah Connor and Big Love finales. Lost was pretty good, too, and 30 Rock’s “He Needs a Kidney” song was tops.
But the absolute best finale this season was Scrubs. The final scene was monumental and should be considered one of the best show endings of all time.
I thought 24′s finale was horrible. It was just too much wah wah wah from a show that’s about kicking people’s faces in.
On the whole, I’m happy with my TV shows this season and their finales were mostly decent. That’s probably because I didn’t watch Heroes this season, though.

Lost’s season finale was my favorite two hours of television EVER! Best Lost finale, best anything finale. It was funny touching action packed emotional bad ass shocking .. EVERYTHING. They even had great moments where characters talk about what motivates them and why they do what they do.. (Sawyer opening up to Jack then kicking him in the nuts was my personal favorite moment)..Also I’ve never been watching a show where I wanted the heroes to fail as bad as I did here. I didn’t want them to blow up the nuke. It was a blast and when i went off I was speechless.

This has been a great year for finales, so far.
Terminator:SSC – The finale was a strong end to an inconsistent show. Terminator had some good episodes. It had some near-great episodes. And it had some episodes that were total crap. I think the show went out on a high note, and I’m sorry it’s not coming back. This is a series that definitely suffered a premature death. I can’t fault FOX for letting it go, but I’m sorry that its gone.
LOST – Lost caught my interest right from the pilot episode, and I’ve never strayed. Even through the rough spots of season 2, LOST has had me on the edge of my seat. I’m floored by how adeptly the story is woven. I have complete faith that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will manage to tie everything in a neat bow by the end of next season, yet I can’t fathom how in the world they’ll do it. LOST has the formula just right for me: mystery, action, elements of sci-fi, great acting, great pacing, and great direction. The season finale was predictably unpredictable and totally awesome. It’s going to be a long eight months waiting for it to return.
Heroes – Good riddance. (Oh, wait – it’s coming back? …I think I’m done with it. I LOVED Season One, right up to the finale. The finale of Season One fell flat for me, and it’s been a downhill spiral from there. At this point, its pretty far from the show I remember liking, yet I continued watching it through the conclusion of this season for some reason. Loyalty? Masochism? In any event, I don’t think I’ll be watching when it returns).
Smallville – This one was just painful. Another show I’ve been watching since Season One. This season was better overall than it had been lately, but the finale really smelled up the room big time. Sigh.
Supernatural – I love Supernatural, and the show took only one or two missteps this whole season. The finale was fantastic, and I can’t wait until the final season begins. I can only hope it somehow lives up to what I envision it to be (Hell on Earth, as the apocalypse rages and angels and demons battle, the skies red with fire, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria. And Sam and Dean in the middle of it all, trying to somehow set things right). Even if it doesn’t play out that way, I have complete faith in the show to outdo my expectations. I only hope the CW sticks around to air it.
24 – This was a big steaming pile of suck. 24 has had good years and bad years. This was a good year, but a bad finale. Jack gets cured (or not) off-camera and outside the 24-hour cycle? Part of what has made 24 a good show, for me, is that it plays for keeps. If the head of CTU gets a fatal dose of radiation, he dies. He may die a heroic death, piloting a nuclear bomb to the desert so it explodes with minimum casualties, but he dies. If the next head of CTU is used as a pawn by terrorists, with the ultimatum made that Jack must kill him dead in a train yard, Jack will kill him dead. But apparently these rules don’t apply to Jack himself. If Jack is exposed to fatal levels of a biological neurotoxin, then there’s miraculously an experimental cure that can be administered at the 11:59th hour? Boo, hiss. And Tony was what, a quintuple agent? Or not really, because he was lone-wolfing it to his own ends. The series started spiraling downward about halfway through.
Fringe – I really like Fringe. It started good, and grew increasingly better throughout the season. It’s good enough now that even my wife has started watching it. She has a very low crap tolerance, so for a show to gain her as a fan it MUST be good.
Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire – If you didn’t watch this series, you missed something so bad it was good. It had several laugh-out-loud moments each episode. It was only a six episode run, and I don’t think there are any plans to bring it back for a second season.
Breaking Bad – This show has not had its finale yet. It’s still going strong, powering through its second season. I mention it because it is THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION RIGHT NOW. I think I like it even better than LOST or Supernatural. You should be watching it, but you probably are not. It’s on AMC. The lead, Bryan Cranston, won an Emmy for Best Actor last year. He deserved it, and the rest of the cast was robbed for not being nominated, as well. Its the story of a terminally ill chemistry professor who decides to provide for his family by becoming a meth manufacturer. Watching his life fall apart, and what he makes of the pieces, is totally compelling. Check it out. Actually, do yourself a favor and start with Season One, Episode One. The entire first season recently was released to DVD and it is well worth the purchase. It’s not a “Cult” or “Genre” show, per se, but if you are a fan of great storytelling and acting you would be well-advised to watch this series. If I had to compare it to something similar in tone, I’d say maybe its a bit like Dexter. (Another great show, currently in hiatus).

I can’t wait to see season 2 of Breaking Bad. I have to see it on DVD, but I LOVED season 1. Bryan Cranston is completely captivating.
