Canadia. The land of wonder. America’s sister from another… well from the same mother. Kind of. Anyways, Michael is headed there for a business trip. David Wallace is sending him up there to cheer him up after David practically broke Michael and Holly apart. Also, because he can’t find anyone else willing to go to Winnipeg in mid-November.

Jim starts off his day as a happy camper. Why? Pam is to return in a week. Wahoo! Downside? Everyone in the office is being super creepy and weird about it. Strange smiles. Inappropriate touching. It makes me feel dirty thinking about it.

After getting off the phone with David, Michael heads to the airport with Andy (his translator) and a very unenthusiastic Oscar. There voyage starts with a town car. Which is actually a van. They get in the plane and Michael is seated in first class, a mimosa in hand, rolling like a peeyuuump, while Oscar and Andy head to the economy class, which is practically right behind Michael. Michael is loving it. That is until he asks to see a menu for his in flight meal. No dice, Michael. It’s not even two hours long. You’ll be lucky to get a cookie. Then the rude stewardess slams the drink cart into him while he’s hanging out in the isle.

Ryan heads back to Kelly’s area. He talks about how he’s moving back there when Pam gets back, then starts doing badly formed pushups. Kelly asks, “Is that supposed to impress me?” Cut a few minutes forward with Ryan on Kelly’s desk and Kelly all over him. Predictable, but still hilariously sickening.

At the very nice hotel, Michael is happy again as he takes in the scenery. Oscar checks them in as Andy and Michael visit the exotic concierge. Michael is entranced with her as she goes over places of interest. As if the white woman who speaks perfectly fine English with an abundant source of local knowledge is no where to be found back in the states.

The Winnipeg equivalent of a geisha. Intoxicating, isn’t she?

Pam calls up Jim with some horrible news. She’s failing art school. Badly. Basically, she would need to stay another 12 weeks, so she could try to pass again. Like a great boyfriend, Jim tells her that this isn’t about him. It’s her dream and she left Scranton to follow it. So, when she returns, she returns the right way. Not the way he tells her to.

Michael, Andy, and Oscar go to a nice bar that the concierge recommended. And who’s there, but the concierge, having a drink. Michael strikes up a conversation with her, still thinking she can’t understand English, so he speaks as if he doesn’t know English. Andy gives the two glasses of wine and gets them to stand next to each other for a picture. The concierge is confused, but goes along with it anyway. Michael needs a rebound from Holly, and this is what he’s decided to go with.

While he does that, Andy is determined to get Oscar a handful of Canadian bacon. He has scoped out the joint and found two dudes that he just assumes are gay, because they’re there just hanging out with each other. That’s all. He heads over to the two guys with Long Island Ice Teas and asks them if they’re interested in the hot man beef that is Oscar. They aren’t having it, and tell Andy to leave them alone. He does, but not without the Long Islands. He gets back to Oscar and informs him that he struck out and hands him a drink. So, they get hammered.

Michael is doing pretty well with the concierge. So well that he ends up leaving with her without telling Andy or Oscar. They’re too busy hitting it off and getting tanked to even notice. Oscar straight up asks Andy why he’d even want to marry Angela. The truth juice loosens up Andy’s mouth and we start seeing his side of the story. He’s holding onto something that he may never get, the chance for Angela to truly love him back, emotionally and physically. Which is why he wanted to get Oscar laid. He feels that if he can’t experience love or lust, then at least he’ll try to get something for his buddies. I wouldn’t say he’s living vicariously, because Oscar is gay after all. But that’s the jist.

Oscar commands Andy to call and ask Angela what is so wrong with her. He does! She’s been sleeping and is none too pleased. Dwight is there and you can here him whispering. Andy asks if someone is there, but is quickly derailed by expressing his desire to see Angela naked. Great. Dwight and Angela are officially sleeping together again. Sigh. I can’t wait for this to explode in their faces.

Michael is done having sex with the concierge and is quickly booted from her hotel room. He’s been used. I feel bad for him. All he wants is to be with the one he loves.

In the morning, Oscar thanks Andy for trying to hook him up. Andy is all about getting the whole nine nards for his pals. Oscar laughs it up and brings up the call with Angela. Andy thought it was a dream and starts freaking out. Then they’re off to the sales meeting with Michael.

In Scranton, Ryan and Kelly are making out in the break room. Ryan tells her that she needs to break up with Darryl if she wants to be with Ryan and his strange, little pushups. He wrote out a text and everything. They push the button together. Almost instantaneously, she gets a message back saying, “It’s cool.” Kelly is elated. Ryan is worried. And Darryl struts satisfyingly out of the warehouse.

At the airport, Andy relays that he’s back to first base with Angela, as if he ever left it. Michael’s sales pitch went well, albeit he himself was not doing so well. When he gets on the phone with David Wallace, before boarding the plane, he opens up. He didn’t enjoy his trip. Then, he lets David know that he was a jerk for taking Holly away. He knew Michael liked Holly (probably even loved her), but he did it anyway. Then he hangs up. Good for you, Michael.

Jim is moping back at the office. We get the idea that Pam has decided to stay and redo her failed course. However, when Jim leaves for the day, there’s Pam waiting for him. She’s coming back. It may not be “the right way,” but she has been disenchanted by graphic design and doesn’t want to do it anymore. She wants to be there with Jim, even though she won’t immediately admit that she misses him. For the first time, we see Pam making the leap. We see her making a sacrifice to be with Jim, instead of it always being the other way around. It’s what a real relationship should be. The give and take.

To top the episode off, we see Kelly and Ryan officially back together. Kelly is super excited, but Ryan has taken a complete one-eighty. I guess now that he doesn’t have to fight for something he doesn’t have, he doesn’t want it anymore. Rightfully so, because Kelly is a terror.

Awww.

This was a fantastic episode. Andy is way too funny all throughout. He has the best lines and the best innuendos. We see Michael coping with his loss, like a normal person. Ryan got what he wished for with Kelly. And finally, Pam and Jim are back together again. Welcome back, Pam. Now what?

5 out of 5 Dwigt Foreheads.
