I'm a fan of the show but, for me, this season has been its weakest yet. Over the past four seasons, Ron Moore has painstakingly crafted a giant katamari that looked great at first but that is now succumbing to its own weight. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for the actors at this point:

MOORE: "Okay, forget about everything you thought your character to be. Now pretend YOU ARE A CYLON, and have been since the beginning!"

CAST: "But... but..."

MOORE: "C'mon people! It'll be COOL!"

That's a tough direction even for good actors. Luckily, BSG is populated with good actors. (I know Moore is not technically the show's director; I'm speaking metaphorically here).

According to the opening montage of this season of BSG (which pointedly no longer promises that the Cylons have a plan), ALL WILL BE REVEALED. The question I keep asking myself is: how much will I care? If you keep changing the rules midgame, it makes the final victory less exciting.

There's a lot going on in the BSG universe right now. A whole lot. So why do the episodes seem so languid and talky? I want more action. But more importantly, I want action that makes sense and is consistent with the story lines laid out in prior episodes. And I want that annoying Final Five music to go away already.

I imagine the LOST writers' room has whiteboards covered with complicated graphs and charts and timelines. To the contrary, I imagine the BSG writers' room floor is littered with crumpled pages torn from the show bible.

There is still time to pull it all together, and I'm fervently hoping that Moore does.
