Episode 4 is now available — it should appear on iTunes shortly. This week’s episode features previews of impressive new fall shows Pushing Daisies and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Jake’s review of the entertaining reality series, Who Wants to Be a Super Hero?, and our discussion of Scifi’s underwhelming new spin on Flash Gordon. All that, plus Jake’s formal addition to the cast and the television news of the week!

Here are the shownotes:
1. The Pushing Daisies SERIES PREMIERE is October 3 at 8/7c. Check out the ABC website for interviews with the lead actors. Also, we were totally wrong, the show was created by Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black, Get Shorty, The Addams Family) and Writer-Producer Bryan Fuller (Heroes, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me). So, Barry Sonnenfeld will stick around. Also! Dude, actress Anna Friel is totally British. What a surprise!
2. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is scheduled to debut on Fox in early 2008 in the Sunday 9:00pm timeslot. Midseason. Lame. Stupid. Poop on Fox twice for being so dumb. This show is rad and deserves better!
3. New episodes of WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO air Thursdays a 9 at the Sci Fi Channel.
If you want to send something to SciFi that will make them stand up and take notice, a tuna sandwich sent book rate will definitely do it.
I also wanted to like Flash Gordon but I didn’t wind up hating it like you all did. Sure, it was stupid. Then again, it’s better than the original “movies” they put out. Jesus, MAN-THING?!
The whole idea that they had to save the universe by themselves (a frat-boy, his ethnic sidekick, the chick and weird homeless guy) makes no sense to anyone but the paranoid. There are plot holes in it that you could drive a shiny red monster truck through, but there are worse shows out there. At least it’s not more Ghost Hunters.
But really, this is the problem with SciFi Channel. They need to figure out original programming on the cheep because they are on cable. That’s why you are seeing a reliance on reality shows and wrestling. (WTF?)
If this channel actually cared about SciFi, they would cover SciFi books. Instead, they, not too long ago, canceled the original fiction portion of their site. God forbid anyone would encourage the mouth breathers to read.
As a long time Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, I’m used to having my hopes crushed, so I’m holding out hope for Tin Man. Maybe it will be another Lost Room. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
